Cape Town in 5 days - An Itinerary For You

It's been a while since we penned an article on our travel adventures and so here we are to share some details about our short trip to Cape Town, South Africa. Though Cape Town is a perfect travel destination , this may not be the perfect travel itinerary as we had a woefully short amount of time but this will give you an idea to craft your own!

We highly suggest that you book a rental car and drive your way around at your own pace - Could there be a better way to savour all that Cape Town has to Offer ? Definitely NO.

We booked a compact sedan through rentalcars.com which served us really well on the South African roads.

Stunning backdrop..?? This is why you need to have your own wheels ;-)
Cape Town Road Trip Itinerary

Day 1 : Cape of Good Hope & Boulders Beach - Expect to see a colony of Penguins here.
Day 2 : Cable car ride to the top of the Table Mountain, Hike to Lion's Head and spend the evening relaxing at V & A waterfront.
Day 3 : Start the day early for Aquila Wild life safari
Day 4 : Explore some of the spectacular beaches of Cape Town dotted along the Atlantic and Indian Ocean coastlines. Llandudno, Cliffton , Muizenberg to name a few.
Day 5 : Drive around the colourful city of Bo-Kaap and visit a few Vineyards.
Day 6 : Fy back to Singapore

Where to Stay:

We stayed at Holiday Inn , which is located in the heart of the city and we only had to drive an approx of 100-200 kms a day, (except for the Safari, but not to worry, they do have pick-up and drop-off service) which saved us from the annoying task of packing and unpacking & checking in and checking out every other day of course !

Weather and What to Pack:

We visited Cape Town in Summer during the month of February. The summer months in Cape Town can get really hot and sunny and therefore a comfortable sundress or t-shirts and shorts would be perfect.

#LessonLearned : We did not do our research while planning for this summer road trip enough and we dressed up fully covered to get to the top of the Table Mountain assuming it could get very windy and cold at the top and it turned out to be a scorching hot day. Please pick a summer outfit even if you are heading to the Table Mountain top and just keep a jacket handy.

Not to mention, Sun-screen, sunglasses ,hats are must-have(s).

Day 1 : Cape Of Good Hope and Boulders Beach

Be sure to spot a colony of penguins here :-)

Day 2  : Cable Car ride to the Top Of Table Mountain

Yes , you guessed it right... that's the queue to see the African Wonder

View from the top of Table Mountain

We headed to the V & A waterfront to spend the evening after spending the whole morning soaking up the commanding views from the top of the mountain. There is a reason why Table Mountain is one of the most photographed landmarks in the world. A heaven , indeed, if you are a photography enthusiast !!

If you have visited Cape Town , a picture with the Table mountain frame is a must-have keepsake

There are plenty of options to pose around V&A waterfront

Sounds great ^-^

Day 3 : It's time for the African Safari !!

So you are vacationing in Africa and signing up for an African Safari is a no-brainer. Make the most out of your wildlife safari with Aquila.

Aquila is only a two-hours journey from Cape Town and is possibly the nearest you could find. They offer a variety of Safari options - Check their website and take your pick: AquilaSafari

Our Safari vehicle

The next 4 hours were spent on a guided safari through the National Park looking for wildlife and yes we did spot many !!

Day 4 : A vacation without some sunshine and beach time is never complete !!! Check out some spectacular beaches of Cape Town......

#Important Note : Do take precautions while you relax and unwind at these stunning beaches as accidents and crimes do happen in SA. Though Cape Town is a place tourists always flee to , be cautious and stay safe while you travel in SA.

#1. Llandudno

#2. Cliffton

#3. The vibrant and colourful Muizenberg

A must-visit ........

Day 5 : Time to taste some African wine and chocolates !!

It isn't hard to find gorgeous vineyards in Cape Town - options are many. You will find plenty of them as you drive around Stellenbosch.

Some Wine-tasting at Franschhoek Vineyard

Mountains , beaches , wildlife safaris , Ostrich farms , luscious food and wine, African beats and crafts - All sums up a road trip experience in South Africa.

So, Are you already planning yours !!??

Before you say GoodBye, enjoy some traditional African Music :-)

Happy Travels , Everyone ........................................!!
